GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this sleek 1949 Ford Custom Coupe for consideration. This is a highly customized show worthy vehicle that turns heads everywhere it goes. The '49 Ford was the first all-new automobile design introduced by Ford after WWII. It is popularly referred to as the "Shoebox Ford" for its slab-sided design. The '49 Ford is credited both with saving Ford and ushering in modern streamlined car design with changes such as integrated fenders, the design would continue through the 1951 model year.
This car has been completely restored and customized on a dual path. Motor City Rod Shop in Melvindale, MI did all of the work and the car has been featured in numerous shows including the Detroit Autorama. Under the hood is a 302ci 285hp V8 with a Holly 4bbl carb, Holly intake, Edelbrock valve covers, Edelbrock air cleaner, rear oil pan sump and pickup, and a remote oil filter. It is mated to a 3 speed auto with overdrive with a ratchet B&M shifter running out to a '68 Ford Fairlane rear end. The exterior features 3 coats of PPG Deltron base black and 7 coats of POG clear, remote controlled shaved doors, side chrome trim removed, shaved hood and trunk lid, the quarter panels are molded to the body, custom '68 Camaro bumper formed into the grille, LED parking lights, frenched halogen headlights and taillights, tinted windows with a v-butt windshield, steel wheels with '49 hub caps and beauty rings, new drum brakes with a firewall mounted master cylinder.
The interior features power windows, power steering, vintage A/C, custom white and black leather seating, '51 Ford dashboard, Alpine radio with SIRIUS and CD player with IPOD hook up, Pioneer speakers, custom gauges, and a customized '60 Thunderbird console with mounted tachometer. Other features include rack and pinion steering with at '79 Trans-Am steering column, air suspension, billet steering wheel, gas cylinder lifts for hood and trunk, and an aluminized exhaust with chromed headers and Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. This is truly a one-off customized '49 Ford built to a meticulously high level of quality. It has 1,440 miles on it since the build and a packet full of receipts totaling over $120,000. Grab it here for a fraction of the build cost!
