Studebaker-Packard was looking for the best way to recuperate their money they had been losing for the last couple years going into the mid-50's. This time was hard for the oldest American automotive company due to post-war economy and concerns but their company president, Harold E. Churchill, thought of an idea to win their segment back. They began producing compact versus. Their typical full-size model and to save cost and keep size practicality in place, they kept the same platform but eliminated the vehicle hangover on each end. This vehicle could still seat six people, store plenty of luggage and became a quick success due to these fine points. By the end of the 50's the Lark model became popular enough to keep them in business similar to what the Champion model had done for them prior to the war. For the time, their model became more popular due to their restyling of its windshield which was no longer a wraparound, reduced the pillars for better view and kept the women in mind when designing the interior. With a big turn in marketing, Studebaker produced a “Exclusive Beauty Vanity” glovebox with a mirror, makeup tray and compartment storage which was adorned with the word “Vanity” right on the front.
This fine example of the 1963 Studebaker Lark is a very complete and mechanically sound model with plenty of personality to go around! The exterior shows especially well with its metallic blue exterior, chrome front and rear bumpers, chrome trim, mirrors and grill all in great condition and the original looking hub caps matched with its white wall tires. Within this model you find the interior well protected by translucent seat covers, the seats still showing through as in good condition as well and all of the gauges and instrumentation on the dash in its proper place and condition. The glove box, as described above, holds a wonderful storage system and mirror setup for the ladies to enjoy and use for their makeup on your way to your date. Mechanically, this vehicle has seen its fair share of work to ensure its quality for the next owner. With a new water pump, ignition system replaced, new kick panels and rear shelf, wind lace on doors replaced and even a fresh set of floor mats with the Studebaker insignia are added to this sale courtesy of its current owner. This vehicle is great for those who enjoy the classic Studebaker cars of this era and could be for those looking to win trophies with it at car shows or for those looking for a very enjoyable cruiser. A sure quick sale will come so don't hesitate to call us for extra information on this great ride!
