The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, it married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was already outselling both of its older rivals. Ford, Dodge, and even Jeep would counter with similar shortened pickups, with the Dodge Ramcharger and Jeep Cherokee.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this awesome, 1972 Chevrolet Blazer 4X4 custom build for your consideration. Every square inch of this 4X4 has been thoughtfully restored. At the heart of this build is a professionally prepared 383 stroker fed by an Edlebrock 4 barrel carb, cooled by an aluminum radiator, serpentine driven components, headers, power brakes, power steering, open element air cleaner, automatic transmission, transfer case and Chevy's bullet proof 4 wheel drive system. The custom interior is outfitted with modern bucket seats and rear seat with shoulder seat belts. The classic look is has also been fortified with a Pioneer sound system. The quality of this restoration is amazing in all aspects right down the wonderfully applied red paint and the new trim pieces to complement. All this awesomeness rides on custom aluminum wheels skinned with new Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ tires.
There is no shortage of “Cool Factor” with this 1972 Blazer. The design and build is geared to eyeball and easy driving. This K5 is ready to go topless and cruise to the beach or any of your weekend destinations.
