1975 marked the year that Porsche took its turbo charged program from the race track and integrated into its street production cars offered to the public. The car was introduced as the 930 and its noticeably more bodacious body lines combined with the extra kick of the turbo charged system, the 930 forced its self on the world stage as an instant exotic and later, with some improvements and the “Flachbau” or slant-nose, would be held in the highest realm of the supercars of the 80's. The “Flachbau” caught its cues from the legendary 935 race cars that dominated the endurance racing world and also brought Porsche to victory in the FIA World Championship for Makes each year from 1976 to 1979. The “Flachbau” could only be ordered through Porsche's Special Wish program and with the nose of each car hand crafted the cars commanded a hefty premium and factory examples were and are very sparse. Demand was such that the slant or 935 look spawned companies such as DP and American International Racing to take their conversions originally designed for the racing circuit and offer them as conversions to Porsche's 911 and 930 production car lines.

Just out of a private collection, GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this awesome, 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Slant Nose conversion. This car is powered by a professionally prepared 3.3 liter turbo charged engine. Power is transferred vie its 4 speed manual transmission and delivered by the rear wheels. Highlights include: Outstanding quality all steel conversion, K27 Turbo, SC Cams, Custom 4 inch stainless exhaust, B&B Oil Cooler, Upgraded AC System, Recaro seats, 4 point harnesses, Momo steering wheel, Momo carbon fiber shift knob, upgrades brakes with cross drilled rotors, white face gauges etc. According to the paperwork the 1979 3.3 liter motor was completely rebuilt by Don Jackson Enterprises with an estimated horse power in excess of 400 and driven just 10000 miles since cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Cosmetically, the car is wonderful possessing an excellent overall fit and finish, excellent paint and tidy interior. Mechanically, the car is an absolute thrill to drive delivering excitement in every shift.

The 930 was one of the fastest cars on the planet and the cars of the late 70's were comfortable race cars in luxurious leather. With the surging demand for significant Porsche's, the 930 leads the way for the Turbo charged era. These cars are globally sought after and a high quality example such as this is well worth the money offered here. Documentation includes a letter from Porsche documenting the original car, full documentation of the conversion and engine build, owners manual, tool roll, and service records.
