1968 Pontiac GTO

GR Auto Gallery is excited to present this 1968 Pontiac GTO Coupe for purchase. The GTO started as a trim option since GM wasn't ready to commit to a car away from the mpg/family thinking….but then the high sales numbers forced them to make the GTO in to its own model. In 1968, GM redesigned its A-body line with more curvaceous, semi-fastback styling. The front from the 2nd generation looks very different with side by side headlights and the “Endura” front bumper (that they famously advertised by hitting with a hammer to no effect). The goat was full on muscle and the '68 GTO is one of the highest sought after classic muscle cars from Detroit's greatest era.
This well restored example of the 1968 Pontiac GTO has seen a great deal of craftsmanship completed to it in order to get it back to the condition and quality it is in today. The current owner has done a lot of body work, a great deal of the mechanicals have been improved or replaced and with its fresh paint and interior, this is really a great ride ready to be cruised around in. Now hosting a rebuilt 1970 Pontiac engine mated to an automatic transmission, there is certainly no lack of power and enjoyment behind the wheel. The interior stands in a very original looking state with the exemption of the missing radio which was left in order to allow the next owner to decide on whether they want a truly retro one or a newer one with more capability.
