1966 Oldsmobile 442

The Cutlass in the 2nd generation (from 1964-1967) was a complete redesign, and grew substantially in to a modern muscle car with many different options. As part of the legendary GM A-body muscle cars (that included the Chevelle, GTO, and Buick GS) Oldsmobile made its own splash with the 442. The 442's name came originally from 4-barrel carburetor, 4-speed on the floor, and dual exhaust. These cars were serious power and still a lot of fun to drive with great classic muscle car styling catching every eye from the curb. Although the “442” model was not officially a model in and of itself until 1968, the trim package was available but with no tie to the VIN making it a hard thing to verify.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this thoughtfully restored example of the 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass “442” for your consideration. When decoding the VIN on this particular model it reads as followed: 3 = Oldsmobile Maker, 3817 = Cutlass V8 2 Dr. Holiday Sedan (With “442” option available), 6 = Year (1966), M = Lansing, MI Factory and the remainder was the sequence. Although we do not have a build sheet for this model it was common that the factories wouldn't even include these when built and makes it a very hard trim to prove. With that being said, the build and restoration of this particular model holds no bounds and is clear to see the quality of workmanship performed on this example. The engine and transmission have been replaced and a powerful 455 V8 mated to a quality 350 T.H automatic transmission have been installed to ensure a quality ride, the exterior shows wonderfully with its fresh black exterior, the brakes have been upgraded in front with drilled and slotted discs with red calipers and the rears have been rebuilt, the system now has a dual circuit master cylinder, The wheels are 17" American Racing and the new tires (100 miles) are 235/55ZR-17 Goodrich g-force Comp2. Overall, the interior is as new in a wonderful white vinyl and overall looks and handles are like new.
