Prior to the War, trucks were very much a customized idea mostly built by carriage companies outside of the manufacturers including suspension, length of frame and more to get these vehicles capable enough for the job at hand. The trucks that did come from the factory from Ford were built off the same chassis that their cars were built on which restricted the amount of space to work with as well as the capability. The first-generation Ford F-Series was introduced in 1948 and was the first post-war truck design that Ford had created. This was very unique for the company as they broke off from using their car chassis and opted for a dedicated truck platform. This proved to be a very good move for the company as it went on to be more capable and gave many options to broaden the utilitarian purpose of their vehicle. From the F-1 all the way to their F-8, these trucks came with different engine choices, bed lengths, weight ratings and purposes such as a parcel truck or school bus.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this well-conditioned and eye-catching example of the 1949 Ford F-1 Pickup for your consideration. This beautiful Half-Ton truck has a great deal of work completed to it but harbors a great deal of its originality as well giving this a real stamp of approval for the nostalgia lovers! The outside has been sprayed with a wonderful green and grey color combination really accenting its big fenders, the firestone white wall tires with chrome and black painted wheels look great, the doors shut firmly, the side steps are more than usable and overall this vehicle is in great driver quality with a few blemishes but nothing that takes away from the style of this brute. The mechanical end is where you really get a blast from the past as it appears to host its original flathead V8 engine under the hood and mated to its 3-speed manual transmission which is floor mounted opposed to steering column mounted as they did them in the following years. This vehicle starts up smoothly, shifts through its gears well and has a strong idle giving its next owner all the drivability you could ask for. Other great features to this truck include its very original looking interior, dash and bench seating inside the cabin, the wood throughout the bed and the wood built up and off the stake sides all well-conditioned and this truck even comes with its owner manual and shop manual.
