GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1979 Ford Bronco XLT Ranger 4x4 for purchase. In mid-1977 Ford introduced the first full-size Broncos for the 1978 model year. The long awaited '78 Bronco was so popular that many people had to wait six months or longer to get one from their local Ford dealers. Consumers just couldn't get enough of them. Even the automobile and truck magazines of the time raved on and on about the new full-size Broncos. The '78 Bronco practically swept up every accolade with 4x4 and truck-of-the-year awards. One of the main reasons for the new Bronco's instant celebrity status was the combination of functionality and ruggedness the vehicle offered. The F-Series 4x4s have a long standing reputation for being the best built full-size trucks on the market. With the introduction of the full-size Bronco, consumers could now have a vehicle with all the ruggedness of the F-Series trucks combined with luxury features such as A/C, cruise control, roll bars, AM/FM/CB stereos, delay wipers, bucket seats, center consoles, and even tilt steering - all in a short wheel base package that was easy to maneuver both on and off the road. Consumers could also choose exactly how they wanted their new Bronco equipped with two basic models being offered; the Custom, which was marketed towards the "outdoor enthusiast" and the Ranger XLT, which was marketed as more of family-oriented daily driver. Ford also offered a "Free-Wheelin" package on both the Custom & the Ranger XLT that featured tri-color striping, black bumpers, black low mount western-style mirrors, sport steering wheel, special glove box appliqué, and custom wheels.
The 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT 4X4 offered spent its life in eastern Oregon and as a result, this Bronco remains highly original with the exception of a recent repaint in its original color two tone; Midnite Jade and White. The truck is powered by its by its 400 V8 engine, automatic transmission and delivered by its factory 4 wheel drive. Factory options included: Power Steering, Power Brakes, 400 V8, Automatic Transmission, Floor Shift Differential, Tilt Steering Wheel, Air Conditioning (missing compressor), power rear window, XLT trim, and exterior décor. Highlights of this truck include: Excellent original body panels, excellent unrestored frame and underside, original interior, tow package, brush bar, fog lights, custom wheels fitted with Dick Cepak Mountain Cat tires.
78 and 79 full size Bronco's are the hottest vintage SUV's on the market now. These trucks have stage presence and possess a tremendous amount of eyeball. This combined with reliable mechanicals and overall toughness have made them a favorite among collectors , 4X4 enthusiasts and have become proven automotive investments. The truck offered here is a rock solid example that can be enjoyed the way it is presented or a great candidate to bring to a whole new level. With restored examples now selling upwards of 30, 000 dollars, there is no wrong decision with this example at the price offered here.
