The Ford Mach 1 was first introduced in 1969 along with the Mustang's new perfected body style. The car was aggressive not only in looks and stance, but also in performance. The Mach 1 package was only available in the Sportsroof body style, never in a hard top nor convertible. The all came with upgraded suspension to varying degrees dependent upon powertrain choices. Standard to the Mach one is a fierce looking cosmetic hood scoop that had integrated turn-signal lights mounted in the back. Due to the Mach 1's success in 1969, the GT was discontinued while little changed on the Mach 1. The body included dual beam headlights where sport lamps replaced the inner headlight, side scoops behind both doors were removed, the bucket seats were revised.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this fully restored 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Sportsroof for sale. This H-code Mach 1 was purchased new at Galpin Motors of Sepulveda, CA. The Mach 1 came standard with Hi-back vinyl bucket seats, competition suspension, color-keyed racing mirrors, console-mounted shift lever, rim blow - deluxe steering wheel, instrument gages, rocker panel mouldings, rear deck lid tape stripe, deep dish wheel covers, color-keyed carpeting etc. Additional options included Fuel evap emission control system, select-shift cruise-o-matic transmission, E70x14 wide oval tires, power steering, power front disc brakes, airconditiner-selectaire (ac currently removed), am radio and complete tinted glass.
Since, the majority of its life was spent in California until acquired by a local collector and was treated to a complete high quality restoration. Today, the car is stunning in all aspects. It is finished in Grabber Blue over Black interior. The car features its 351 Windsor V8 engine upgraded to the 4-barrel Carburetor, automatic transmission and upgraded rear end. This Mach 1 comes fully dressed in the Mach 1 options including strips, spoilers, dual exhaust, high bucket seats, console, wood grain trim and classic chrome Magnum 500s. The paint is outstanding, chrome is excellent, interior near perfect, highly detailed engine compartment and underside is fresh and detailed. Mechanically, the car is spot on, fully sorted and an absolute thrill to drive. The car is ready to show at any event.
The 1970 Mach 1 is arguably the best and most aggressive body style that the Mustang has ever appeared in. This coupled with a high list of options, continue to keep the Mach 1 as a favorite among Ford enthusiasts and Collectors worldwide. Documentation includes original dealer shipper invoice and Marti Report. A must consideration at the price here.
