1978 Alfa Romeo Spider Niki Lauda Edition

Circa 1978, World Champion F1 Driver Niki Lauda signed on to the Parmalat-sponsored Brabham-Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team after a very successful and exciting run with Ferrari. To celebrate Niki, Alfa Romeo launched a special edition Spider in his honor. The Niki Lauda Edition Spider was limited to just 350 units distributed world wide and all were offered in one color scheme, Brabham F1 livery, 514 Carman Red with blue and white stripes. Other signature styling cues include a wrap around rear fiberglass spoiler, commemorative dash plaque, special edition badging, stainless steel interior accents, covered headlights and special exhaust tips.

Just out of a private collection, the car offered here, number 46 of the 350 built, is a fantastic example of the Niki Lauda Spiders featuring just 48114 original miles and remains in highly original condition. This car has always been enthusiast owned and driven and the condition speaks volumes to the consistent care and maintenance that this car has received over the past 40 years. The original interior is gorgeous in all areas topped off with the signature wood steering wheel and shift knob. The exterior paint shows a ton of life with a deep and glossy finish and the stripes remain in great condition. The Spica Fed dual overhead cam 2.0 liter 4 cylinder motor just sings through all gears, the transmission shifts precisely and the suspension and braking system work in harmony together to achieve excellent handling and balance. The car has been looked after by world renown Boston Sportscar Company with over $6000 dollars in recent services including fuel injection rebuild, complete brake system service new calipers front and rear, suspension service including new upper and lower ball joints as well as chasing down some oil leaks.
