1999 Porsche Boxster

The first mid-engine production Porsche was the Boxster that made its debut in late 1996. The first generation was technically model years 1996-2004 and was designated as the 986. This was a also a transition period for Porsche not only for design of the 911 but the mechanicals were getting away from air-cooled configurations. The 986 Boxster actually shared the same bonnet, front wings, headlights and interior architecture as the 911 during the same time period.
