Chrysler used the New Yorker name from 1940-1996, serving as the brands flagship model. Until its discontinuation in 1996, the New Yorker was the longest-running American car nameplate. After WWII the New Yorker became a separate series and like most other companies the cars did not change from pre-war through 1949.
