The development of the early Falcons was caused due to the massive shift in the market which demanded a quality ride but with a low cost. The demise of many manufacturer names such as Nash, Hudson, DeSoto and even Packard was caused due to the popularity of the Falcon as well as the other Big Three companies cars which had the majority of the consumers lining up for their own products. Known as “the father of the Falcon”, Mr. Robert McNamara was a Ford executive and then even the president for a short stint and is highly regarded as the man who pushed this car into production. McNamara left Ford shortly after the Falcon met the market but was vindicated for his faith in the concept quickly after as the model went on to record sales; over half a million sold in the first year and over a million sold by the end of the second year. This quickly became a benchmark for manufacturers and is the pushing reason on why so many of these ever-popular Falcons hold such a large spot within the classic car collector's hearts.
