GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1951 Studebaker Commander Regal Starlite Coupe for purchase. Styling of the new Studebaker Commander was executed mainly at Raymond Loewy's studios, with much of the work was actually accomplished by Virgil Exner. The car's appearance was stunning and somewhat polarizing, and the Starlight coupe's large four-part wrap-around rear window in particular so closely resembled a front windshield that comedians wondered aloud if the car was coming or going. Nonetheless, the design was futuristic, and proved to be influential as the rest of the American auto industry was forced to play catch-up. While some criticized the “bullet nose” look as well, it didn't seem to bother buyers as sales remained high. Today these cars are not easy to find making them rare, easy to maintain, and certainly something that sticks out of the pack.

This '51 Commander Regal Starlite Coupe is in excellent condition. It is an incredible survivor that has been in the same family since 1978. The owner purchased it in Michigan and took it to Arizona only to be shipped back as part of the estate six years ago. It is powered by the original 232ci V8 engine paired with the original 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This car is stunning and even the original radio works. The wheels, bullet nose, gauges, and everything is so incredible to examine up close with how much character this car has. This car will not disappoint! Please call or email for more details!
