The Model 48 was the main competitor for Chevrolets cars and went through changes and refreshes almost annually to keep the model with new intrigue year after year. This vehicle replaced Fords V8-powered Model 40A and was first introduced in 1935. Up until 1937, this vehicle never looked the same from year to year but then the 1938 came out with such a popular look, they kept it close to the same up until war ceased production in 1941. Fords combination of price, practicality and looks pushed sales over and beyond the Chevrolet with 820,000 sold and the rest was history. Even furthering their desirability was the convertible model which, with less made, makes for a pre-war classic perfect for every collection.
