Chevrolet did not change much throughout the late 20's and early 30's and without looking too closely, the difference between their 1929 and 1930 Chevrolet Universal was almost indistinguishable. The few items adjusted from one year to the next were subtle but important which included a more slanted windshield which rid the driver of glare issues. The other touches were done to the interior such as a more circular shape to the instrument panel, a gas gauge added to the dash and darker colored faces through all. This vehicle was a bargain for what it included as it came standard with bumpers, robe rail, dome light, silk assist cords and six wire wheels with fender wells. The market was looking for a quicker and more reliable ride than previous years and Chevrolet delivered just that when adding their new 194 CID “Stovebolt Six” which boosted horsepower upwards to 50 ponies. Their big marketing ploy, which turned out to be a great success, was that their new model and power-plant was “A Six in the price range of a Four”.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this near museum quality and strong running example of the 1930 Chevrolet Universal Sedan for your consideration. A real time-hop with all the nostalgia you could hope for, the interior and exterior are as clean and complete as you could ever hope for and with a great deal of originality still intact! From the exterior this vehicle shows excellently with a beautiful dark Burgundy and Black color palate, the wheels, chrome, lights and badging lined up and in wonderful condition as well. The doors fit flush with little effort needed to open and close, the glass and seals all without any noticeable damage or wear, this is as good as they come. The interior is just as well if not even better with a full restoration clearly completed but with patterns, colors and materials you would have found buying one new. The gauges all functioning well, the starting procedure simplistic and effective. Powered by what appears to be the correct Flathead 6 engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission, this runs and drives like a pre-war with ease. An excellent vehicle for any collection and a must-see within our gallery, call or email us today for a closer look at automotive history at its best!
