E.R.A. (Exact Replica Automobiles) is a true pioneer in the world of Cobra repli-cars. Since 1981, ERA has been recreating Shelbys 427 C/C and 289 FIA cobras in exact form. A replica so correct in presentation, that when it first came to market, famed publication, Car and Driver magazine, took immediate notice and published a road test article in October 1983 giving the ERA 427 SC instant credibility in the performance automotive market. Looked at as not just a kit car but a continuation of a legend in form and function. ERA gives the best of both workds: a visually faithful reproduction combined with improved technology where you cant. The chassis is strengthened over the original design and stiffened to reduce body shake. The suspension works in conjunction with the improved chassis to produce a combination of excellent handling and smooth ride not available by any other company. Today, there are many Cobra kits available, many for the budget minded builder. ERA, however, still stands head and shoulders above the crowd as their packages could be ordered as a buildable kit or a finished product assembled at their factory in Connecticut.
The 1965 Shelby 427 S/C Cobra by E.R.A. offered here was ordered and built with the purest of intention in continuing Shelby's legendary Cobra. ERA #412 is a factory built reproduction at ERA's facility in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1995. In an effort to build a car in the Cobra tradition, the car offered here houses a genuine, period correct, 427 side oiler. The professionally assemble side oiler is finely tuned and features: steel crank, forged pistons, Carroll Shelby autographed aluminum heads, Ford roller rocker assemblies, NASCAR connecting rods etc. To optimize performance, an MSD electronic ignition has been utilized as well as an Accusump oil accumulator system to ensure optimal engine oil supply at all times. This Cobra also features four corner independent suspension. SPAX coil-over shocks and springs with adjustable ride height, a professional built Jaguar racing independent rear suspension, and with the exception of some minor housing details, the Salisbury center section is identical to the one used in the original Cobra. Other highlights include a Doug Nash 5-Speed transmission, Pin-drive Halibrand Cobra cast knock-off wheels, complete soft top, tonneau, black leather interior, wood steering wheel, correct bent shifter, side exhaust, Smith original type counter rotating gauges, etc. Since the build, the car has remained in the hands of the original owner as the centerpiece of a private collection. It has been driven and maintained for 2974 miles since completion.
The performance of this car is amazing and the presentation is breathtaking. The paint is near flawless, the interior is as new, and the stance is perfect. As the market for authentic Cobras has surpassed the stratosphere, high quality replica cars with thoughtful builds such as this ERA gain in value and are considered excellent automotive investments. If you are looking for a budget Cobra kit, this car is not for you, however, if you are looking for true replica of the original combined with a professional high quality build, look no further. No disappointments and no excuses with this 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C by E.R.A #412. The car comes complete with assembly / operating / parts manual and is title as a 1995.
