1971 Pontiac GTO

The GTO started as a trim option since GM wasn't ready to commit to a car away from the mpg/family thinking….but then the high sales numbers forced them to make the GTO in to its own model. In 1968, GM redesigned it's A-body line with more curvaceous, semi-fastback styling. The front from the 2nd generation looks very different with side by side headlights and the “Endura” front bumper (that they famously advertised by hitting with a hammer to no effect). The goat was full on muscle and many credit the GTO for starting the muscle car craze.
