2001 Honda S2000

Honda has made its name with small, high performance sports cars. There second car to enter production was the S500 that built off of Honda's motorcycle expertise and featured a 531cc inline 4-cylinder with a 9,500rpm readline. The S500, S600 and later S800 helped cement Honda as a manufacture of small affordable sports cars. The S2000 entered production in 1999 and was a front engine, rear wheel drive roadster with a 2.0L DOHC-VTEC engine that produced around 245hp. The readline is an astronomical 9,000 and it is mated to a short throw 6-speed manual. With 50:50 weight distribution, a Torsen limited slip differential, and the highest specific output of any car with 125hp per liter.

This 2001 New Formula Red Honda S2000 is a beautifully driving car. Honda is known for their excellent shifters and this is probably one of the best ever made. The engine starts immediately and is eager to rev. The clutch has great bite and it shifts well and pulls strong all the way to its crazy high readline. A two owner car out of Ann Arbour, it has done just 41k miles and has been well taken care of. The exterior paint shows well but has a few small paint chips on the front bumper and the rear bumper has a few small marks and is a bit out of alignment. You'd be hard pressed to know from 15 feet away. The interior on the other hand is spotless. The seats and leather trim look excellent and there are no soft spots or marks in the thick bolsters. All the equipment works as it should. Power windows, power top, power locks, cruise control, stereo and strong air-conditioning are all standard features as is a digital clock and instruments and a wind blocker.

This small sports car is just the ticket to make your Miata driving neighbor envious. With more power, just as good handling, and less goofy looks, it's the Miatas cooler cousin. This car has both the keys as well as the owner's manual and original window sticker. Clean and unabused S2000s are becoming harder to find and his car is in great shape and is one of the most fun to drive cars we have driven. You really need to experience it, you become one with the car.
