The power plant under the hood is a mildly built 350 cubic inch V8 motor and paired with an M-22 4-speed manual transmission. The 350 runs great and turns right over with just a turn of the key. Like nearly all GM vehicles, 1968 was a year for major re-design. The Nova deviated from the squared off cars for the two generations prior and introduced a car with curvaceous lines and a sleeker look. Still considered a compact, the new Nova was still considered a basic, no frills car, however, in typical Chevrolet fashion, the list of potential trim packages and performance options were long, and their relatively small size and light weight, the Nova was a top pick among engine builders and gear heads to outfit with bigger performance based motors and taken to the drag strip.
