The 914 was a joint venture between Porsche and Volkswagen AG, to design a mid level sports car that was affordable to the masses, cutting edge in design, while retaining handling performance capabilities that would rival any thing on the market. The 914 nailed all three areas and yet today, is a staunch representative of the Porsche Marque. The mid engine design and low center of gravity just tickles the fancy of any driving enthusiast that loves to stand on the gas through the twisties. The 1973 Porsche 914 offered here was purchased new at Allen's Autohaus inc. of Fargo North Dakota. The came painted in desirable Tangerine exterior paint over black interior. The car came well appointed with the optional appearance group package consisting of: Vinyl covered roll bar, dual-tone horns, chromed bumpers, integrated fog lights, pile-type carpet, leather covered steering wheel, console under dash and leather shifter boot. Other options include: Factory aluminum wheels, tinted windshield, radial tires, 4- wheel disc brakes, integrated roll bar, tachometer, fresh air heating and ventilation and two way adjustable seats.
Today, after 4 owners, the car boasts a highly original core structure and has benefitted from a repaint in its factory color, new seat upholstery and carpeting. The Tangerine exterior paint is professionally applied and shows excellent, the interior is to die for wonderful. The dash is excellent as is the dash fascia, seats, carpeting and upholstered panels. Under the bonnet and rear deck lid boasts the original factory paint still as does the engine area.
Mechanically, the car remains a spirited driver with clean shifting and straight braking capabilities.
Documentation includes the original window sticker and a large file of service records dating back to 20 plus years.
